Service Outage: 23rd February 2026
SynergyRoot Cause Analysis - SSL Certificate Expiry. 23rd February 2026
The Synergy Workforce platform was unavailable to all users for a period of time on Monday 23rd February 2026. We first became aware of the issue through our internal reporting mechanisms at 05:35 GMT. Synel's software engineers quickly traced this to an expired SSL certificate.
The SSL certificate was renewed for 3 years in February 2025 and as such, should not have expired. Further investigation with the SSL Certificate provider showed that they had been acquired by a larger organisation last year, and that the transition of multi-year certificates had not been adequately managed, resulting in them expiring on their next anniversary without warning.
We quickly applied a new certificate, and started to recover service, node by node. The first node was recovered at 12:12, and the full platform was available via SSL connection at 14:45
We wish to thank our customers for their patience during this time, and assure you that no clocking data was lost. We are working with the SSL Certificate provider to understand the underlying process issues that allowed this to happen.
